ONE DAY CYCLING KALAW–AUNG BAN–HEHO–KAUNG DAING–NYAUNG SHWE
The tour proposes to reach Inle Lake from Kalaw passing by the small trading town of Aung Ban, Heho, and Khaung Daing to reach Nyaung Shwe at the shore of Inle Lake. The cycling tour offers panoramic views along the ride. After a lunch in Nyaung Shwe, the tour can be followed by sightseeing on the lake in the afternoon or to check-in directly at the hotel for some rest.
The bike ride starts from Kalaw to reach Aung Bagan, a small trade center where local ethnic people comes to sell their products. (8 miles/13 kilometers)
After a short break continue to Heho. Stop for some refreshment on the way (15 miles / 24 Km)
Take some rest when reaching Heho and visit its busy and colorful market if the day falls on a market day (5 days rotation market)
You will then continue to Nyaung Shwe via Khaung Daing junction, enjoy the scenic view on the Shan Mountains range on the way. Depending the period of the year, stop to a sugar cane factory for a rest. (Heho to factory 6 miles /10 Km)
Continue the ride and reach Nyaung Shwe (9 miles / 15 km) around lunch time. In the afternoon, you will have the possibility to continue your sightseeing on Inle Lake taking a boat from Nyaung Shwe Jetty
Inle Lake is the second largest lake in Myanmar, 22 kilometers long and 11 kilometer wide located in the Shan State.
The lake is one of the wonder not to miss when visiting Myanmar. Intha people to mean “sons of the lake” are estimated to 100 00 people. Their way of leaving is very adapted to the environment. The fisher men have made themselves very famous with their particular way to row, one leg on the stern and the other leg to row. One of the singular interests is the floating gardens, a form of aquaculture. The Intha have developed over the years sort of terraces made with humus attached with bamboo sticks planted with tomatoes, aubergines and flowers.
